This was my first 18 century dress. I quite adore it, but the only thing I would change is the fabric. At that time I was a starter, and I didn't have silk, so it's made of polyester taffeta. In the middle of the summer, this thing is damn hot, I need to carry a fan and use it constantly. Anyway, the dress is cute, and I wanted it to look like a big pink piece of cake.
I got inspired by Madame de Pompadour's peach dress portrait by Françcois Boucher and a very cute portrait of the young Marie-Antoinette by Jean-Étienne Liotard. The dress is based on the pattern of Parcs Canada. I revamped it a little when I went to the Venice Carnival, adding some ribbons on the stomacher and having new big pouffy bows (I thought the old ones weren't pouffy enough). 50% machine, 50% by hand.
